- The World Fair has always been a good source of income and takings have increased steadily year on year. It usually is the first weekend in December and people come and do Christmas shopping. We will list the date in the MSAVLC calendar when we know it.
- A charity gig night took place on Saturday 11th November 2006 @ Ad Lib in Fulham, London. The night was a big success with music from Threewheeler and DJ Vinyl Ritchie. A lot of money was raised in support of MSAVLC and this money will go to help fund an audiology clinic in Pakse, Laos - the only one in the whole country. Thank you to everyone who donated to this worthy cause.
- Other similar but smaller events are also profitable. Meetings at which we have spoken – either public or "house" – are very useful not only for donations which have been forthcoming but also for the publicity which, in turn, often generates donations.
- There have been occasions when special appeals in newspapers have been effective. Two examples: in 1994, Paula Hall, one of Coventry Evening Telegraph's named reporters, did an excellent article about cases of hare lip/cleft palate in Thanh Hoa, as a result of which we received the better part of £1000. At Christmas in 1989, supporters all over the country wrote to their local newspapers appealing for modest donations for the purchase of rehydration powder for the huge numbers of cases of diarrhoea in Cambodia. When we opened the first post in January 1990 (this was in the days when we had an office in London) it was gigantic and contained over £3000!
